Columbus rides Vigier to victory over Augusta, 3-1

Ian Vigier stood on his head and made 34 saves to lead the Columbus Cottonmouths to a 3-1 victory over the Augusta RiverHawks.

Columbus was sparked by Jordan Braid, who registered one goal and one assist. Braid scored 16:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Columbus. Levi Lind provided the assist.

The Cottonmouths stifled Augusta's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Columbus also got a goal from Sam Bowles as well. More assists for Columbus came via Tom Maldonado, who had two and Derek Pallardy and Bret Tyler, who contributed one a piece.

The RiverHawks were held below their usual level of production. Augusta puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. The RiverHawks' offense rang up 35 shots on Columbus' net.

Augusta was led by Branden Kosolofsky, who scored the team's only goal. Kosolofsky scored 15:25 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Columbus. Brendan Taylor assisted on the tally.

The Cottonmouths totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Peter Skoggard recorded 20 saves for the RiverHawks. Augusta totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
