Huge game by MacDonald boosts Huntsville over Mississippi RiverKings, 5-1

Mike MacDonald had two goals and one assist to lead the Huntsville Havoc to a 5-1 victory over Mississippi RiverKings.

MacDonald scored at 4:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville and again while on the power play 6:06 into the first to make the score 2-0 Huntsville.

Mississippi RiverKings was stymied by Huntsville netminder Mark Sibbald, who stopped 42 shots during the victory. Sibbald managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.3 prior to the game.

The Havoc's penalty kill excelled, as Huntsville gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Havoc racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. Huntsville surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Havoc stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Huntsville put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.7 it averages per game. The Havoc bested their season scoring average. Huntsville has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Huntsville also got points from Ray Ortiz, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Alex Morton, who also registered one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Stuart Stefan as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Scott Duncan, who had three and Barrett Brook, Jonathan Lafrance, and Justin Fox, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings' offense rang up 43 shots on the Havoc's net.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Chevan Wilson, who took three shots.

Huntsville registered one goal on one power play opportunities. Mississippi RiverKings' David Wilson stopped 22 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors.
