The Huntsville Havoc tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but Mississippi Surge held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Adam Stuart put Mississippi Surge up 4-2 in the second period, but Huntsville pulled to within one on Ray Ortiz's tally 7:01 into the third period.

Nick Guran had two goals to lead Mississippi Surge to victory. Guran found the back of the net short handed 19:57 into the first period to make the score 2-2 and again while 2:42 into the second to make the score 3-2 Mississippi Surge.

Mississippi Surge's offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.4 shots per game it averages.

Mississippi Surge also got points from Jeff Grant, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Mississippi Surge came via Rob Campbell, who had two and Mark Pawlowski, Scott Jenks, Matt Kinnunen, and Chris Chambers, who contributed one a piece.

With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Havoc exceeded the 21.4 shots they average per game this year. Huntsville's defensemen bolstered the Havoc's offensive attack, as they bombarded Nick Eno with 14 shots.

Huntsville was helped by Greg Brown, who grabbed one goal. Brown scored 17:23 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Huntsville. Justin Fox provided the assist.
