Knoxville outlasts Louisiana, 3-2

The game between the Knoxville Ice Bears and the Louisiana IceGators was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Knoxville emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Berkley Scott secured the win for the Ice Bears with a goal in the second period.

Knoxville was led by Scott, who racked up one goal. Scott scored 17:33 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Knoxville. Mark Van Vliet picked up the assist.

The Ice Bears stifled Louisiana's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Knoxville was below its usual level of shot production, taking 25 shots compared to the 31.4 the Ice Bears average.

Knoxville also got points from Emery Olauson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Knoxville also got a goal from Mike Towns as well. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Ricky Helmbrecht, Kevin Swider, and Brett Valliquette, who contributed one a piece.

The IceGators' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Knoxville power plays. Louisiana put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.2 it averages per game.

The IceGators were led by Josh Boyd, who registered one goal and one assist. Boyd scored 1:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Louisiana. Kevin Beauregard provided the assist. Josh Duplantis also scored for Louisiana. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Eric Tallent, who had one.

Kyle Rank rejected 24 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dan Earles recorded 22 saves for Louisiana. The IceGators incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
