Skoggard stymies Fayetteville, Augusta wins 4-1James Brown Arena Thu, Mar 01, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Peter Skoggard helped the Augusta RiverHawks defeat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 4-1. Augusta was led by Lucas LaBelle, who had one goal and one assist. LaBelle scored 1:48 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Augusta. The RiverHawks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.6 shots per game they average. Brendan Taylor also scored for Augusta. In addition, Augusta received assists from Drew Baker, Jesse Echternach, Kyle Watson, and Branden Kosolofsky, who each chipped in one. Fayetteville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The FireAntz average 3.2 goals per game. Fayetteville put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.8 it averages per game. The FireAntz were led by Jesse Biduke, who scored the team's only goal. Biduke scored on the power play 14:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Fayetteville had gotten the advantage when Augusta's Jason Price was sent off for slashing. Mike Forgie assisted on the tally. Skoggard recorded 26 saves for the RiverHawks. Augusta totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The FireAntz's Mike Brown stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Fayetteville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
