Jeff Topilko scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Mississippi RiverKings picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (3-2 SO) win over the Huntsville Havoc.

The shootout lasted for 16 attempts between the teams. Huntsville got shootout goals from Stuart Stefan and Mike MacDonald. Mississippi RiverKings' other shootout goals were scored by Kyle Lundale and Mark Magnowski.

Matt Whitehead had one goal and two assists to lead Mississippi RiverKings. Whitehead scored 15:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1.

The Havoc's power play was ineffective against Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Huntsville put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21 it averages per game.

The Havoc were led by MacDonald, who tallied one goal and one assist. MacDonald scored 7:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Stefan picked up the assist. Huntsville additionally got points from MacDonald, who also registered one goal and one assist. Glenn Detulleo also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via JD Gordon, who had one and Ray Ortiz, who had two.

Scott Darling turned away 32 pucks between the pipes for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Kevin Beech recorded 23 saves for Huntsville. The Havoc incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
