Pensacola beats Louisiana 9-1 as Robertson gets hat trick

A hat trick by Matthew Robertson was the highlight in Ice Flyers' 9-1 win against the Louisiana IceGators.

Robertson notched his first tally 19:56 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:43 into the third and at 17:16 into the third.

Louisiana was stymied by the Pensacola Ice Flyers netminder Corey Milan, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Milan certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.3 entering the contest.

Pensacola found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Ice Flyers have scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. Pensacola was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 17 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Andrew Howes, who totaled five minutes in penalty time with one major.

Pensacola also got points from Jordan Chong, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Andrew Harrison, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Chris Wilson, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Ryan Ramage, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Dan Buccella, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Pensacola got a goal from Ryan Salvis as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Kevin Brojek, who had two and Ryan Hohl, who had three.

The IceGators' offense operated below they season average. Louisiana puts an average of three pucks into the net per game. The IceGators' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 33 shots put on the Ice Flyers' net.

Louisiana was led by Tyler Lyon, who scored the team's only goal. Lyon scored on the power play 4:27 into the third period to make the score 7-1 Pensacola. The IceGators had taken the advantage when Pensacola's Mike Carter got sent off for hooking. Clark Byczynski picked up the assist.

The Ice Flyers registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Dan Earles turned away 16 pucks between the pipes for Louisiana. The IceGators totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
