Huge game by Buccella boosts Pensacola over Mississippi RiverKings, 4-1

Dan Buccella was all over the ice for the Pensacola Ice Flyers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Pensacola's 4-1 win over Mississippi RiverKings.

Buccella scored on the power play at 10:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pensacola and again while on the power play 3:55 into the third to make the score 4-1 Pensacola.

The Ice Flyers' Jesse Kallechy was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. Kallechy certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.41 entering the contest.

Pensacola's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Mississippi RiverKings power plays. The Ice Flyers' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 18 shots between them. The 32 shots that Pensacola put on net surpassed the Ice Flyers' average of 24.8 shots per game this season.

Pensacola also got a goal from Chris Wilson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Donnie Harris, who had two and Ryan Salvis and Ryan Ramage, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 34 shots on goal, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 26.2 shots it averages per game this year. Mississippi RiverKings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Darrell Stoddard, who scored the team's only goal. Stoddard scored short handed 39 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. Mark Magnowski picked up the assist.

Pensacola incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Scott Darling recorded 28 saves for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stoddard was ejected from the game.
