Wilson's goals lift Pensacola to 5-2 victory over Mississippi Surge

Chris Wilson had four goals to lead the Pensacola Ice Flyers to a 5-2 victory over Mississippi Surge.

Wilson got on the scoresheet 10:45 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:30 into the second, at 15:59 into the third, and at 19:42 into the third.

Mississippi Surge's power play was ineffective against Pensacola's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Ice Flyers stifled Mississippi Surge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pensacola relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Matthew Robertson, Wilson and Ryan Corry took 13 of the team's 23 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Jordan Chong, who had two and Andrew Howes, Donnie Harris, Mike Carter, Kevin Brojek, Ryan Ramage, and Ryan Hohl, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi Surge was helped by Mark Pawlowski, who grabbed one goal. Pawlowski scored 15:39 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. Nick Guran picked up the assist. Rob Campbell also scored for Mississippi Surge. More assists for Mississippi Surge came via James Isaacs and Jeff Grant, who contributed one a piece.

Corey Milan rejected 20 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kiefer Smiley recorded 18 saves for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
