Mississippi Surge downs Louisiana in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

James Isaacs gave Mississippi Surge a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Louisiana IceGators when he scored 2:12 into the extra period.

Louisiana's power play was ineffective against Mississippi Surge's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Mississippi Surge was paced by Isaacs, who racked up one goal.

Mississippi Surge's offense was clicking better than usual and put 37 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27 shots per game it averages. Mississippi Surge could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Adam Stuart, who totaled two minutes in penalty time with one minor.

The IceGators' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mississippi Surge power plays. Louisiana's offense operated below it season average. The IceGators average three goals per game.
