Dayton falls to Fort Wayne in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Fort Wayne Komets pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Dayton Gems on a clutch goal by Chris Auger.

Dayton was stymied by Fort Wayne netminder Nick Boucher, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. Boucher certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.44 entering the contest.

The Komets were led by Auger, who grabbed one goal. Auger scored 3:40 into overtime to make the score 2-1 Fort Wayne. Leo Thomas assisted on the tally.

The Gems were unable to stop Fort Wayne from sending pucks towards the net, and the Komets eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Fort Wayne also got a goal from Frankie DeAngelis as well. In addition, Fort Wayne received assists from Brett Smith and Colin Chaulk, who contributed one a piece.

Dayton racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. The Gems had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Dayton was led by Kyle Bochek, who scored the team's only goal. Bochek scored 5:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dayton. Nick Fanto provided the assist.

Fort Wayne totaled 39 minutes in penalty time with two minors and three majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Komets, Brent Henley was ejected from the game. Dan Dunn recorded 32 saves for the Gems. Dayton registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
