The Tulsa Oilers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Missouri Mavericks held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Kris Hogg put Missouri up 3-1 in the second period, but Tulsa pulled to within one on Mike Ullrich's tally 16:37 into the third period.

Hogg had one goal and two assists to lead the Mavericks. Hogg scored on the power play 10:33 into the second period to make the score Missouri. Missouri had taken the advantage when the Oilers' Gio Flamminio got sent off for hooking. Andrew Courtney picked up the assist.

The Mavericks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 37 shots on goal, Missouri exceeded the 28.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Tristin Llewellyn also scored for Missouri. More assists for Missouri came via Brandon Smith, Ed McGrane, and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed one a piece.

Tulsa forced the Mavericks goalie Charlie Effinger to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots.

The Oilers were helped by David Solway, who tallied one goal. Solway scored 14:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Missouri. Sean Erickson provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Michel Beausoleil, who had one.

Missouri's Effinger stopped 46 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Mavericks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Steve Christie made 34 saves for Tulsa on 37 shots. The Oilers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
