Allen completes comeback, beats Texas, 3-2

Allen Event Center    Sat, Mar 17, 2012

Allen climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Texas Brahmas, 3-2.

Allen never led in the game until netting the game winner. Allen fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Texas' Erik Spady at 6:55 in the second period. Allen tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Bruce Graham at 6:05 in the third period. Allen netted the game winner at 9:06 in the third period on a goal by Graham.

Allen was sparked by Jason Deitsch, who registered one goal and one assist.

Penalties took their toll on Allen, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. With 34 shots on target during the contest, Allen exceeded the 25.9 shots it averages per game this year.

Allen also got a goal from Erik Adams as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Tyler Ludwig, Keith Johnson, Colton Yellow Horn, Brett Clouthier, and Rejean Beauchemin, who each chipped in one.

The Brahmas were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Texas had been averaging 14.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Brahmas stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Texas relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as TJ Fox, Phil Fox and Dan Nicholls took 13 of the team's 22 shots.

In addition, Texas received assists from Ross Rouleau, who had two and Chad Woollard and Calin Wild, who contributed one a piece.

Beauchemin recorded 20 saves for Allen. Allen totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play. Ken Carroll made 31 saves for the Brahmas on 34 shots.
