Wichita boosted by Russo's play in net, beats Arizona 2-1

The Wichita Thunder relied on the sparkling performance of Adam Russo in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Arizona Sundogs.

Wichita was led by Chris Chappell, who tallied one goal. Chappell scored on the power play 17:55 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wichita. The Thunder had gained a power play chance when Kyle Hood was whistled for high sticking. Matt Robinson provided the assist.

The 40 shots that Wichita put on net surpassed the Thunder's average of 23.6 shots per game this season.

More assists for Wichita came via Chris Greene, who had one and Matt Summers, who had two.

Arizona's defensemen bolstered the Sundogs' offensive attack, as they bombarded Russo with 13 shots.

Arizona was led by Adam Smyth, who scored the team's only goal. Smyth scored 6:07 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Luke Erickson assisted on the tally.

Wichita's Russo stopped 26 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mike Spillane made 38 saves for the Sundogs on 40 shots. Arizona incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
