Tulsa completes comeback, beats Arizona, 4-3BOK Center Fri, Mar 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Arizona Sundogs could not hold down the Tulsa Oilers, and Oilers erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win. Tulsa never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Oilers fell behind 3-0 after a goal by Arizona's Kyle Hood at 16:24 in the first period. Tulsa knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Tyler Fleck at 12:54 in the second period. The Oilers netted the game winner at 16:57 in the second period on a goal by Fleck. Gary Steffes had two goals and one assist to lead Tulsa. Steffes scored the first of his two goals at 18:39 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Arizona. Jeff Terminesi assisted on the tally. Steffes' next tally made the score 4-3 Tulsa with 3:03 left in the second period. Marty Standish picked up the assist. The Oilers stifled the Sundogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Michel Beausoleil also scored for Tulsa. More assists for Tulsa came via Gerome Giudice, Troy Ofukany, and Dylan Clarke, who each chipped in one. Arizona put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tulsa to score on any of its four power plays. The Sundogs put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.7 they average per game. Arizona was helped by Nathan ONabigon, who finished with one goal. ONabigon scored 2:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Luke Erickson assisted on the tally. In addition, Arizona received assists from Jean-Philipp Chabot, Tyler Butler, Kevin Petovello, and Shawn Morton-Boutin, who contributed one a piece. The Oilers took out Ian Keserich after he had made 13 saves and installed Steve Christie in goal, where he finished with 18 saves and the win. Tulsa incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Scott Reid recorded 23 saves for the Sundogs. Arizona incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
