The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and the Bloomington Blaze were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Rio Grande Valley made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. The Killer Bees gained the winning advantage on a goal by Aaron Lee 13:45 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Lee had two goals to lead Rio Grande Valley to victory. The Killer Bees' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Bloomington power plays.
