The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and the Bloomington Blaze were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Rio Grande Valley made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Killer Bees gained the winning advantage on a goal by Aaron Lee 13:45 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Lee had two goals to lead Rio Grande Valley to victory.

The Killer Bees' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Bloomington power plays. Rio Grande Valley's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.1 shots per game it averages.

Rio Grande Valley also got points from Brandon Campos, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Rio Grande Valley also got a goal from Tomas Klempa as well. In addition, Rio Grande Valley received assists from Jason Dixon, who had two and Nicolas Rioux, Brady Leavold, Mike Wilson, Craig Lineker, and Dan Gendur, who contributed one a piece.
