Chwedoruk leads Quad City over Tulsa, 6-2

Behind a great game by Justin Chwedoruk, who had two goals and one assist, the Quad City Mallards defeated the Tulsa Oilers, 6-2.

Chwedoruk scored at 15:06 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Quad City and again while 16:34 into the third to make the score 5-2 Quad City.

Quad City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Mallards outdid their season average for goals scored. Quad City averages 3.5 goals per game. The Mallards' offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 34.8 shots per game they average.

Quad City additionally got points from Brandon Marino, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Sean Flanagan also scored for Quad City. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Bob Preece and Eric Giosa, who each chipped in one and Obi Aduba, Mickey Lang, and Jeremy Boyer, who contributed two a piece.

Tulsa's offense revolved around and Dylan Clarke, who put and 16 shots on net. The Oilers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Quad City power plays. With 39 shots on target during the contest, Tulsa exceeded the 26.9 shots it averages per game this year.

Tulsa also got points from Gary Steffes, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Tulsa came via Marty Standish and David Solway, who each chipped in one.

David McKee rejected 37 shots on goal for Quad City. The Mallards incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Oilers' Ian Keserich stopped 34 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Tulsa incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Oilers, Michel Beausoleil was ejected from the game.
