The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees had trouble finding ways to stop the Texas Brahmas, which beat Killer Bees, 4-1.

Rio Grande Valley was stymied by Texas netminder Mark Guggenberger, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Guggenberger certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.87 entering the contest.

The Brahmas were led by Brendon Hodge, who registered one goal and one assist. Hodge scored 5:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Texas. Tyler Barr assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:28 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

The Texas penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled four minors and three majors for 43 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 14.0 minutes per game the Brahmas had been spending in the box. Texas relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Hodge, Chad Woollard and TJ Fox took 15 of the team's 25 shots.

Texas also got a goal from Dan Nicholls as well. In addition, Texas received assists from Phil Fox and Ross Rouleau, who contributed one a piece.

The 27 shots that the Killer Bees put on net surpassed Rio Grande Valley's average of 23.6 shots per game this season. The defense for the Killer Bees played an important role offensively, racking up 12 shots on goal.

Rio Grande Valley was led by Nicolas Rioux, who scored the team's only goal. Rioux scored on the power play 15:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Texas. The Killer Bees had gained a power play chance when Brock Meadows was whistled for cross checking. Aaron Lee picked up the assist.

The Brahmas registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Texas, Barr and Chris Moran were ejected from the contest. Wylie Rogers made 21 saves for Rio Grande Valley on 24 shots. The Killer Bees totaled 51 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Georgi Petrov and Brady Leavold were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
