The Quad City Mallards had trouble finding ways to stop the Fort Wayne Komets, which beat Mallards, 7-2.

Fort Wayne was paced by Frankie DeAngelis, who grabbed one goal. DeAngelis scored on the power play 10:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fort Wayne. The Komets earned a power play opportunity when Jason Kostadine was put in the box for slashing. Bobby Chaumont provided the assist.

Fort Wayne put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Quad City to score on any of its five power plays. The Komets found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Fort Wayne averages 3.4 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Komets were also effective in the Mallards' zone, and came away with three goals. By firing 41 shots on goal, Fort Wayne exceeded the 31.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Fort Wayne also got points from Jesse Bennefield, who also had one goal and one assist, Stephon Thorne, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Leo Thomas, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Chris Auger, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Fort Wayne also got a goal from Jamie Milam as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Wayne were Colin Chaulk, who had two and Jean-Michel Rizk and Kaleigh Schrock, who contributed one a piece.

Quad City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as John Snowden, Matt Duffy and Brandon Marino took 15 of the team's 26 shots. The Mallards' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 11 shots between them.

Mickey Lang also scored for Quad City. More assists for Quad City came via Jared Brown, Obi Aduba, and Shane Lovdahl, who each chipped in one.

Nick Boucher recorded 24 saves for the Komets. Fort Wayne incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. David McKee took the loss and made 33 saves before being replaced by Justin Grant who made one save. Quad City incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
