NY AppleCore hangs on, beats Brewster Bulldogs 4-2

The NY AppleCore Applecore Minor B took the lead against the Brewster Bulldogs Bulldogs in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Matthew Bavaro provided NY AppleCore with the game-winning tally when he scored 16:56 into the the first period. Joseph Bochichio picked up the assist.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 14 penalties during the game.

The Applecore Minor B kept Brewster Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zachary Geller made 33 saves on 37 shots. NY AppleCore struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

The Applecore Minor B were helped by Philipp Kreuzer, who had one goal. Kreuzer scored on the power play 9:58 into the second period to make the score 3-1 NY AppleCore. NY AppleCore had taken the advantage when the Bulldogs' Michael Laffin got sent off for kneeing. Joseph Baccicheti assisted on the tally. Ryan Cheng also scored for NY AppleCore. More assists for NY AppleCore came via Michael Dellatto, Brandon Fusaro, Nolan Pues, Joseph Naclerio, and Connor Finocchio, who each chipped in one.

Brewster Bulldogs did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bulldogs put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Brewster Bulldogs' offense rang up 38 shots on the Applecore Minor B's net. The Bulldogs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 14 penalty minutes.

Brewster Bulldogs was led by Jake Garay, who racked up one goal and one assist. Garay scored on the power play 4:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 NY AppleCore. A roughing penalty on Cheng had put the Bulldogs on the power play. Laffin picked up the assist. Brewster Bulldogs also got a goal from Chad Malinowski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brewster Bulldogs were Stephen Franze, who had two.

Justin Kapelmaster recorded 36 saves for NY AppleCore. The Applecore Minor B registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
