Turgeon's big game bests Frederick Freeze in 9-4 Potomac Patriots win

Behind a great game by Andrew Turgeon, who had four goals and one assist, the Potomac Patriots Patriots defeated Frederick Freeze, 9-4.

Turgeon's first goal came 11:09 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:35 into the first, at 12:45 into the second, and at 5:42 into the third.

Potomac Patriots forced Frederick Freeze's goaltenders to work in net, racking up 43 shots and forcing 34 saves. John Ketzenberger made 21 stops and Daniyal Hannan made 13. The Patriots' goal total was higher than their season average. Potomac Patriots has scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign.

Potomac Patriots additionally got points from Peter Veltri, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Turgeon, who also had four goals and one assist, Alexander Grose, who also registered one goal and one assist, Chris Howland, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Joe Pouliot, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, Potomac Patriots received assists from Trevor Herrington, who had two, Peter Wydler, who had four, and Michael Carr and Brad Kostrzebski, who contributed one each.

Frederick Freeze's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Potomac Patriots power plays. Frederick Freeze's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 42 shots put on the Patriots' net.

Frederick Freeze was helped by James Dorrian, who grabbed two goals. Dorrian scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Frederick Freeze earned a power play opportunity when Isaiah Olschewske was put in the box for hooking. Temur Hannan assisted on the tally. Dorrian's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 8:11 left in the first period. Nicholas Martin picked up the assist. Frederick Freeze also got points from Pierce McCaull, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Frederick Freeze got a goal from Jakub Kuvik as well. More assists for Frederick Freeze came via Casey Donegan, who had one.

Dustyn Moyer recorded 38 saves for Potomac Patriots. The Patriots ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Potomac Patriots ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Patrick Sheehan was ejected from the game. Frederick Freeze incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Frederick Freeze, Coach Comeau was ejected from the game.
