Naclerio lifts NY AppleCore over Buffalo Stars, 8-1

The NY AppleCore Applecore Minor B relied on the scoring touch of Joseph Naclerio, who netted two goals, to beat the Buffalo Stars Stars, 8-1.

Naclerio's tallies came at 2:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 NY AppleCore and 18:39 into the second to make the score 4-1 NY AppleCore.

NY AppleCore's Alexander Harwood was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Harwood will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.59.

Buffalo Stars' 10 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Stars let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Applecore Minor B's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Buffalo Stars power plays. NY AppleCore kept Buffalo Stars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Thomas Schenkel made 50 saves on 58 shots. The Applecore Minor B's goal total was higher than their season average. This season, NY AppleCore averages four goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

NY AppleCore also got points from Brandon Fusaro, who also had one goal and one assist, Michael Conslato, who also registered one goal and one assist, Nolan Pues, who also had one goal and one assist, Connor Finocchio, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Joseph Baccicheti, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Joseph Bochichio, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for NY AppleCore were Nicolas Jasmin, who had one and Ryan Cheng, Philipp Kreuzer, Keegan Travers, and Yuriy Sokayev, who contributed two each.

The Stars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Jacob Bystrak, who totaled eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.

Buffalo Stars was led by Luke Swimline, who scored the team's only goal. Swimline scored 2:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo Stars. Christopher Moses provided the assist.

The Applecore Minor B incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
