New England Huskies uses fast start to beat Bay State Breakers, 7-2

The Bay State Breakers Breakers fell behind early, and New England Huskies kept piling on the points on the way to a 7-2 victory.

Matthew Pate was all over the ice for New England Huskies, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Pate scored the first of his two goals short handed at 6:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New England Huskies. A slashing call on Emerson Saffioti put New England Huskies on the penalty kill. Shane Tracy picked up the assist. Pate's next tally short handed made the score 7-2 New England Huskies with 2:12 left in the third period. Kyle Puzar assisted on the tally.

New England Huskies' penalty kill excelled, as New England Huskies gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

New England Huskies stifled Bay State Breakers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. New England Huskies' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 37 shots put on the Breakers' net. New England Huskies found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. New England Huskies averages four goals per game. New England Huskies was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 18 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Saffioti, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

New England Huskies also got points from Kurt Johnson, who also registered one goal and two assists, Brendan Flanagan, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jason Dicey, who also racked up one goal and one assist. New England Huskies got a goal from Jamie Cotnoir as well. Other players who recorded assists for New England Huskies were Matt Pilanski, David Sweet, Zach DErrico, and Mark Ferullo, who contributed one each.

Bay State Breakers kept New England Huskies' goalie busy throughout the game, and Graham Hunt made 30 saves on 32 shots. The Breakers had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays. The leading offender was Derek Murphy, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Bay State Breakers was helped by Sean Daly, who racked up one goal. Daly scored short handed 12:05 into the second period to make the score 6-1 New England Huskies. The Breakers found themselves down a man on Murphy's slashing. Alan Boozer also scored for Bay State Breakers. In addition, Bay State Breakers received assists from Devon Flynn, who had one.

Bay State Breakers' Jake Berry stopped 30 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
