Degler's goals lift Florida Junior Blades to 9-1 victory over East Coast Eagles

Florida Junior Blades relied on the scoring touch of Troy Degler, who netted two goals, to beat East Coast Eagles, 9-1.

Degler found the back of the net 11:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Florida Junior Blades and again while on the power play 6:08 into the second to make the score 7-1 Florida Junior Blades.

Florida Junior Blades' penalty kill excelled, as Florida Junior Blades gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The referees were busy during the game, as 14 penalties were assessed during the course of the contest.

Florida Junior Blades made East Coast Eagles' goaltenders to work in net, launching 65 shots and forcing 56 saves. Scott Jackson made 44 stops and Spencer Braswell made 12. Florida Junior Blades stifled East Coast Eagles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Florida Junior Blades could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Ty Lasker, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Florida Junior Blades also got points from Daniel Thompson, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Marcus Ortiz, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Eryn Siracusa, who also tallied one goal and two assists, DJ Thomas, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and JP Larmoyeux, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Florida Junior Blades got a goal from James Hyatt as well. In addition, Florida Junior Blades received assists from Jonathan Davidson, who had two and Ross Kovacs, Michael DiVico, Joshua Koerner, Danny Giffone, and Chris Lepore, who contributed one each.

East Coast Eagles could not produce up to it normal offensive output. East Coast Eagles puts an average of three pucks into the net per game. East Coast Eagles could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was AJ Seffels, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

East Coast Eagles was led by Dakota Beaulieu, who scored the team's only goal. Beaulieu scored 2:23 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Florida Junior Blades. Owen Harris assisted on the tally.

Florida Junior Blades' Joseph Keyser stopped 17 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Florida Junior Blades registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
