Fernandes' hat trick boosts Mass Maple Leafs over New England Huskies, 11-5

Joseph Fernandes netted a hat trick to lead Mass Maple Leafs over New England Huskies, 11-5.

Fernandes got on the scoresheet 48 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 10:13 into the first and at 6:19 into the second.

Mass Maple Leafs gained an early advantage, leading 5-1 by the end of the first period.

New England Huskies' power play was ineffective against Mass Maple Leafs' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Mass Maple Leafs forced New England Huskies' netminders to work all game long, firing 50 shots and forcing 39 saves. Joseph Beauchesne made 32 stops and Benjamin Gagnon made seven. Mass Maple Leafs bested its season scoring average. Mass Maple Leafs has scored at the pace of six goals per game during the current campaign. Mass Maple Leafs had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. The leading offender was Rick Loveless, who totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one misconduct.

Mass Maple Leafs also got points from Steven Hole, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Colin Cordeiro, who also had two goals and one assist, Kurtis Garcia, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Adam McGrath, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Fernandes, who also registered three goals and two assists, and Keanen Romero, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Mass Maple Leafs got a goal from Ryan Fehnel as well. More assists for Mass Maple Leafs came via Samuel Jenkins, who had one.

New England Huskies was led by Keith Barnaby, who tallied two goals and one assist. Barnaby scored the first of his two goals at 9:02 into the second period to make the score 8-2 Mass Maple Leafs. Ryan LaPlante provided the assist. Barnaby's next tally made the score 8-3 Mass Maple Leafs with 4:20 left in the second period. Shannon Thomas assisted on the tally. New England Huskies additionally got points from Barnaby, who also had two goals and one assist and LaPlante, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Eddie Barrasso also scored for New England Huskies. In addition, New England Huskies received assists from PJ Usalis and Tomas Parizek, who each chipped in one.

Donald Hesse turned away 25 pucks between the pipes for Mass Maple Leafs. Mass Maple Leafs registered one goal on three power play opportunities. New England Huskies incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
