Jersey Wildcats survives Philadelphia Revolution comeback, wins 6-4

Philadelphia Revolution tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Jersey Wildcats held on for a 6-4 victory.

Jersey Wildcats made the score 6-3 on a goal by Ryan Gecawich at 10:09 in the third period, and Philadelphia Revolution got as close as 6-4 when Steven Luongo scored 11:46 into the third period.

Gecawich had two goals and one assist to lead Jersey Wildcats. Gecawich scored the first of his two goals at 19:39 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Jersey Wildcats. Tommy Savino assisted on the tally. Gecawich's next tally made the score Jersey Wildcats with 9:51 left in the third period. James Trenkle provided the assist.

Jersey Wildcats stifled Philadelphia Revolution's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jersey Wildcats outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Jersey Wildcats averages three goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Jersey Wildcats also got points from Savino, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Joseph Rametta, who also registered one goal and one assist. Michael Root also scored for Jersey Wildcats. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Wildcats were Joseph Curto and Geoffrey Smith, who contributed one each.

Philadelphia Revolution put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Wildcats to score on any of its five power plays. Philadelphia Revolution forced Jersey Wildcats goalie Christoph Mutschin to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Philadelphia Revolution was helped by William Jones, who racked up two goals. Jones scored the first of his two goals at 18:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Philadelphia Revolution. Patrick Plinke assisted on the tally. Jones' next tally made the score 2-0 Philadelphia Revolution with 31 seconds left in the first period. Philadelphia Revolution additionally got points from Plinke, who also had one goal and one assist.

Christoph Mutschin made 40 saves for Jersey Wildcats on 44 shots. Jersey Wildcats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stephen Jastrow recorded 13 saves for Philadelphia Revolution. Philadelphia Revolution incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
