Mass Maple Leafs beats Bay State Breakers 8-0 as Garcia gets hat trick

Kurtis Garcia netted a hat trick to lead Mass Maple Leafs over Bay State Breakers, 8-0.

Garcia's first goal came 4:49 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:36 into the first and at 6:49 into the second.

Mass Maple Leafs scored early and often, and held a 4-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

Mass Maple Leafs featured an improved defense during the game. Mass Maple Leafs gives up two goals on average per game. Bay State Breakers was unable to stop Mass Maple Leafs from sending pucks towards the net, and Mass Maple Leafs eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Mass Maple Leafs also got points from Garcia, who also finished with three goals and two assists, Evan Marek, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Craig Parry, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Joseph Fernandes, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. Steven Hole also scored for Mass Maple Leafs. More assists for Mass Maple Leafs came via Jacob Dyl, who had two and Rick Loveless and Edward Botelho, who contributed one each.

Bay State Breakers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Bay State Breakers finished below its season average of 17 penalty minutes per game. Mass Maple Leafs' defense shut down Bay State Breakers' forwards for much of the game, and Bay State Breakers got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Donald Hesse turned away 14 pucks between the pipes for Mass Maple Leafs. Mass Maple Leafs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Bay State Breakers' Kevin Hoy stopped 41 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Bay State Breakers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
