Jersey Wildcats wins tough contest against Suffolk Juniors, 7-5

Jersey Wildcats gutted out a close 7-5 win against Suffolk Juniors.

Jersey Wildcats gained the winning advantage on a goal by Nicholas Hall 10:06 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Austin Nye had a great game for Jersey Wildcats, netting two goals. Nye's tallies came at 4:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Wildcats and on the power play 8:30 into the second to make the score 3-2 Jersey Wildcats.

Jersey Wildcats forced Suffolk Juniors' goalies to work without much rest, firing 44 shots and forcing 37 saves. Anthony Pupplo made 24 stops and Hunter Tetreault made 13. Jersey Wildcats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Suffolk Juniors to score on any of its three power plays. Jersey Wildcats bested its season scoring average. This season, Jersey Wildcats averages three goals per contest.

Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Matthew Sangalli, who also registered one goal and one assist. Joseph Curto also scored for Jersey Wildcats. More assists for Jersey Wildcats came via Geoffrey Smith, who had two, Nicholas Skerlick, who had three, and Tommy Savino, Gage Malinowski, and Joseph Rametta, who each chipped in one.

Suffolk Juniors forced Jersey Wildcats goalie Grant Perry to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Suffolk Juniors had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays. The leading offender was Casey OLeary, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Suffolk Juniors was helped by Brian Kesler, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kesler scored 3:42 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Christopher Seeback provided the assist. Suffolk Juniors also got points from Seeback, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Suffolk Juniors got a goal from Chris Stemke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Suffolk Juniors were Cameron Smith and Brett Kaiser, who contributed one each.

Perry recorded 32 saves for Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Wildcats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
