Jersey Wildcats downs Potomac Patriots in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Jersey Wildcats' James Trenkle scored 26 seconds into overtime to beat Potomac Patriots, 4-3 (OT).

Jersey Wildcats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Gage Malinowski, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Jersey Wildcats was helped by Geoffrey Smith, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Smith scored 18:46 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Jersey Wildcats. Matthew Sangalli provided the assist. Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Sangalli, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Nicholas Skerlick, who had three and Nick Bacigalupo and Joseph Rametta, who each chipped in one.

Potomac Patriots stifled Jersey Wildcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Potomac Patriots forced Jersey Wildcats goalie Christoph Mutschin to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. The defensemen of Potomac Patriots were also effective in Jersey Wildcats' zone, and came away with two goals.

Potomac Patriots was led by Robert Stone, who racked up one goal and one assist. Stone scored on the power play 18:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Jersey Wildcats. Potomac Patriots had gained a power play chance when Rametta was whistled for interference. Noah Rubin assisted on the tally. Alexander Mandeville also scored for Potomac Patriots. Other players who recorded assists for Potomac Patriots were Jeffery Egan, who had one.

Mutschin recorded 51 saves for Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Wildcats registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. TJ Hollen made 19 saves for Potomac Patriots on 23 shots. Potomac Patriots incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
