Huge game by Fernandes boosts Mass Maple Leafs over Brewster Bulldogs, 6-2

Mass Maple Leafs' Joseph Fernandes had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-2 win over Brewster Bulldogs.

Fernandes scored at 6:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mass Maple Leafs and again while 7:06 into the first to make the score 2-0 Mass Maple Leafs.

Brewster Bulldogs' power play was ineffective against Mass Maple Leafs' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Mass Maple Leafs kept Brewster Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zachary Shapiro made 32 saves on 38 shots. Mass Maple Leafs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Samuel Jenkins, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Mass Maple Leafs also got points from Kurtis Garcia, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Adam Person, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mass Maple Leafs got a goal from Adam McGrath as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mass Maple Leafs were Colin Cordeiro, who had two and Steven Hole, Ryan Fehnel, Brandon Person, and Sidney Thomas, who each chipped in one.

Brewster Bulldogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Brewster Bulldogs was led by Taylor Folchetti, who registered two goals. Folchetti scored the first of his two goals at 18:50 into the first period to make the score 4-1 Mass Maple Leafs. Taylor Creazzo assisted on the tally. Folchetti's next tally made the score 6-2 Mass Maple Leafs with 7:11 left in the second period. Brewster Bulldogs had gotten the advantage when Mass Maple Leafs' Fernandes was sent off for elbowing. Thomas Kirincic provided the assist.

Donald Hesse turned away 26 pucks between the pipes for Mass Maple Leafs. Brewster Bulldogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
