Brewster Bulldogs' comeback falls short, Jersey Wildcats wins 6-5

Jersey Wildcats came close to giving away a three-goal lead to Brewster Bulldogs, but did just enough to escape with a 6-5 victory.

Jersey Wildcats led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Jersey Wildcats' Martin Rovnak's scored at 11:57 in the first period to put Jersey Wildcats up 3-0.

Joseph Rametta was all over the ice for Jersey Wildcats, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Rametta scored 8:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Jersey Wildcats. Joseph Curto provided the assist.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 16 penalties during the game.

Jersey Wildcats was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22 minutes per game Jersey Wildcats had been spending in the box. Jersey Wildcats excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Jersey Wildcats outdid its season average for goals scored. Jersey Wildcats has scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign.

Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Curto, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jersey Wildcats got a goal from Gage Malinowski as well. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from James Trenkle, Ryan Morse, Nicholas Hermann, and Geoffrey Smith, who contributed one each.

Brewster Bulldogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Wildcats to score on any of its three power plays. Jersey Wildcats was unable to stop Brewster Bulldogs from sending pucks towards the net, and Brewster Bulldogs eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Brewster Bulldogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Richard Folchetti, who totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one misconduct.

Brewster Bulldogs was helped by Sean Henderson, who had three goals. Michael Benincasa also scored for Brewster Bulldogs. Other players who recorded assists for Brewster Bulldogs were Eric Staropoli, who had two, Thomas Kirincic, who had three, and Kevin Kennedy, David Rubenstein, Joseph Leveille, and Gregory Hennings, who each chipped in one.

Grant Perry turned away 34 pucks between the pipes for Jersey Wildcats. Brandon Belz recorded 24 saves for Brewster Bulldogs.
