Alexandria vanquishes Minot in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Alexandria Blizzard defeated the Minot Minotauros in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. Minot got a shootout goal from Josh Twietmeyer. Alexandria's other shootout goal was scored by Craig Lindegard.

The Blizzard excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 61 shots on goal, Alexandria exceeded the 30.3 shots it averages per game this year.

The Blizzard were led by Tucker Coborn, who grabbed one goal. Coborn scored on the power play 10:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alexandria. Alexandria had gained a power play chance when Kelvin Walz was whistled for slashing. Michael Mooney provided the assist. More assists for Alexandria came via Jordan Krebsbach, who had one.

With 22 shots on target during the contest, the Minotauros exceeded the 15.2 shots they average per game this year.

Minot was led by Matt Audette, who scored the team's only goal. Audette scored 9:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Hunter Bergerson assisted on the tally.

Jacob Meyers made 21 saves for the Blizzard on 22 shots. Alexandria incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tim Shaughnessy recorded 59 saves for the Minotauros. Minot incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
