Wenatchee boosted by Lewis' play in net, beats Fresno 3-1Town Toyota Center Sat, Mar 31, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wenatchee Wild relied on the sparkling performance of Greg Lewis in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Fresno Monsters. Wenatchee was paced by Blake Roubos, who finished with one goal. Roubos scored 2:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wenatchee. Evan Schmidbauer picked up the assist. The Wild put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fresno to score on any of its three power plays. The 36 shots that Wenatchee put on net surpassed the Wild's average of 28.9 shots per game this season. Wenatchee also got a goal from Shawn Pauly as well. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Kyle Huson, Brendan Vetter, Chris Kerr, Matt Cope, and Ben Carey, who contributed one a piece. With 29 shots on target during the contest, the Monsters exceeded the 21.9 shots they average per game this year. Fresno was led by Riley Borer, who scored the team's only goal. Borer scored 2:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno. Ryan Doner provided the assist. Lewis rejected 28 shots on goal for Wenatchee. The Wild totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Tomas Sholl recorded 33 saves for the Monsters. Fresno ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
