Topeka downs Odessa, 6-3

Dan Dupell racked up one point to lead the Topeka RoadRunners to a 6-3 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes.

Topeka excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The RoadRunners surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Topeka averages 3.3 goals per game. The 40 shots that the RoadRunners put on net surpassed Topeka's average of 24.8 shots per game this season.

Topeka additionally got points from Trace Strahle, who also had one goal and one assist and Brian Christie, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Topeka included Richard Young, who had one and James Ring, who had two. More assists for Topeka came via Ben Bahe, Gage Hough, Jake Lynes, and Mick Bruce, who contributed one a piece and Ryan White and Sean Gaffney, who each chipped in two.

Odessa managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jackalopes finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Odessa put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.8 it averages per game. The Jackalopes' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 12 shots between them.

Odessa was helped by Alex Ostrowski, who grabbed one goal. Ostrowski scored 18:16 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Topeka. Tyller Robert picked up the assist. Ryan Atkinson also scored for Odessa. Other players who recorded assists for Odessa were Brandon Gorges, Mikko Virtanen, Darren Lapic, and Tyler Cayemberg, who contributed one a piece.

Peter Traber recorded 24 saves for the RoadRunners. Topeka incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Connor Hellebuyck made 34 saves for the Jackalopes on 40 shots.
