Fairbanks beats Alaska 4-3 after comeback scare

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Alaska Avalanche on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Gabe Levin put Fairbanks up 4-2 in the third period, but Alaska pulled to within one on Codey Hansen's tally 10:50 into the third period.

Levin had a great game for the Ice Dogs, netting two goals.

Fairbanks forced the Avalanche goalie Bodhi Engum to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Garret Clemment also scored for Fairbanks. In addition, Fairbanks received assists from JT Osborn, who had two and Doug Rose, Tayler Munson, Sean ORourke, Rudy Sulmonde, and Max Birkinbine, who contributed one a piece.

Alaska was below its usual level of shot production, taking 18 shots compared to the 26.5 the Avalanche average.

Alaska also got a goal from Jordan Watt as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alaska were Mitch Kontny and Tanner Fahlstedt, who each chipped in one and Wehebe Darge and Gage Christianson, who contributed two a piece.

Alex Fons recorded 15 saves for the Ice Dogs. Fairbanks totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Bodhi Engum made 27 saves for Alaska on 31 shots. The Avalanche totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
