Odessa downs Wichita Falls, 2-0

Ryan Atkinson tallied one point to lead the Odessa Jackalopes to a 2-0 victory over the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

Odessa stifled Wichita Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jackalopes was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Odessa allows 2.9 goals per game. With 32 shots on target during the contest, the Jackalopes exceeded the 23.1 shots they average per game this year.

Odessa also got points from Taylor Portner, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Odessa received assists from Tyler Minx, Josh Obregon, and Tyler Cayemberg, who each chipped in one.

The Wildcats were held below their usual level of production. Wichita Falls puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. The 24 shots that the Wildcats put on net surpassed Wichita Falls' average of 21.6 shots per game this season. The Wildcats' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 11 shots on net during the game.

Wichita Falls was led by Sergei Soloviev, who took three shots.

Connor Hellebuyck rejected 24 shots on goal for Odessa. The Jackalopes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Leon recorded 30 saves for the Wildcats. Wichita Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
