Huge game by Allen boosts Texas over New Mexico, 5-2

Drew Allen was all over the ice for the Texas Tornado, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Texas' 5-2 win over the New Mexico Mustangs.

Allen's tallies came at 2:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Texas and 11:23 into the third to make the score 4-2 Texas.

By firing 41 shots on goal, the Tornado exceeded the 29.2 shots they average per game this year.

Texas additionally got points from Jackson Leef, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Taylor Herndon, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Drew Mayer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Texas received assists from Mitchell McPherson, who had two and Alex Temby and Jordan Lovick, who each chipped in one.

New Mexico was helped by Avik Bordak, who racked up one goal. Bordak scored 11:14 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Texas. Kirill Vorobyev provided the assist. Adam Chapie also scored for New Mexico. Other players who recorded assists for New Mexico were Nolan Culver and Evan Johnston, who contributed one a piece.

Frederick Leisner rejected 20 shots on goal for Texas. The Tornado incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jake Stafford recorded 36 saves for the Mustangs. New Mexico incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
