Alexandria rolls over Bismarck, 5-1

The Alexandria Blizzard were firing on all cylinders against the Bismarck Bobcats, and when the final buzzer sounded Blizzard emerged with a 5-1 win.

Alexandria's Michael Bitzer was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. Bitzer certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.0 entering the contest.

The Blizzard stifled Bismarck's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defensemen of Alexandria were also effective in the Bobcats' zone, and came away with two goals. The Blizzard put 38 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.5 they average per game.

Alexandria was led by Seth Ronsberg, who registered two goals and one assist. Ronsberg scored the first of his two goals at 20:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alexandria. Jordan Krebsbach picked up the assist. Ronsberg's next tally made the score 3-1 Alexandria with 4:33 left in the second period. Thomas Williams provided the assist. Matt Youso also scored for Alexandria. More assists for Alexandria came via Vadim Gyesbreghs, Sean Mostrom, and Reid Sturos, who contributed one a piece.

Bismarck did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bobcats put an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. Bismarck's offense rang up 31 shots on the Blizzard's net.

The Bobcats were led by Castan Sommer, who scored the team's only goal. Sommer scored 14:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alexandria. Shane Omdahl picked up the assist.

Alexandria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tommy Burke rejected 33 shots on goal for Bismarck. The Bobcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
