Odessa holds on for 3-2 win against Wichita Falls

The Wichita Falls Wildcats tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Odessa Jackalopes held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Ryan Doucet put Odessa up 3-1 in the third period, but Wichita Falls pulled to within one on Brennen Parker's tally 19:06 into the third period.

The Jackalopes were sparked by Doucet, who had one goal and one assist. Doucet scored 15:29 into the third period to make the score Odessa. Lawrence Cornellier picked up the assist.

The Wildcats were unable to stop Odessa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jackalopes eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Tyler Cayemberg also scored for Odessa. In addition, Odessa received assists from Jared Docken, Zach Mertes, and Connor Hellebuyck, who contributed one a piece.

The 33 shots that Wichita Falls put on net surpassed the Wildcats' average of 21.8 shots per game this season.

Wichita Falls was helped by Jakob Batcha, who grabbed one goal. Batcha scored 8:56 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wichita Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Tucker Poolman, who had one.

Connor Hellebuyck made 31 saves for Odessa on 33 shots. The Jackalopes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matt Leon rejected 33 shots on goal for the Wildcats. Wichita Falls incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
