Miller lifts Port Huron over Michigan, 6-2

Behind a great game by Ian Miller, who had two goals, the Port Huron Fighting Falcons defeated the Michigan Warriors, 6-2.

Miller found the back of the net 5:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Huron and again while 18:32 into the second to make the score 3-1 Port Huron.

Port Huron found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Fighting Falcons average 3.4 goals per game. Port Huron's offense was clicking better than usual and put 43 shots on goal during the game, better than the 31.7 shots per game it averages.

Port Huron also got points from Kody Polin, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Easton Powers, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Nicholas Sierra also scored for Port Huron. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Logan Lemirande, who had two and Ryan Teal, Rick DeRosa, and Max Milosek, who each chipped in one.

The Michigan penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Warriors surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Michigan put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.0 it averages per game.

The Warriors were helped by Robert Mantha, who tallied one goal. Mantha scored 2:09 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Port Huron. Michigan also got a goal from Martin Gruse as well.

The Fighting Falcons' Milosek stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Port Huron totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Brach Tiller rejected 37 shots on goal for Michigan. The Warriors registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
