Coyne stymies Coulee Region, Chicago wins 4-1Omni Center Fri, Mar 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Ryan Coyne helped the Chicago Hitmen defeat the Coulee Region Chill, 4-1. Chicago was led by Alex Murphy, who had one goal. Murphy scored short handed 13:48 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Chicago. The Hitmen found themselves down a man on Andrew Paras' unsportsmanlike conduct. Matt Cessna assisted on the tally. The Chicago penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Hitmen had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. Chicago's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Coulee Region power plays. The 45 shots that the Hitmen put on net surpassed Chicago's average of 21.8 shots per game this season. David Gandara also scored for Chicago. More assists for Chicago came via Bryan Drazner, Eric Szafranski, and Shigenobu Kakudate, who contributed one a piece and Sean Madigan and Zach Mudge, who each chipped in two. Coulee Region excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Chill's offense was clicking better than usual and put 45 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.8 shots per game they average. Coulee Region was led by Mac Jansen, who scored the team's only goal. Jansen scored 9:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Coulee Region. Cory Lushanko provided the assist. The Hitmen's Coyne stopped 44 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Aaron Davis made 41 saves for the Chill on 43 shots. Coulee Region ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
