Bismarck downs Aberdeen in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Bismarck Bobcats' Bryce Anderson scored 34 seconds into overtime to beat the Aberdeen Wings, 4-3 (OT).

Francis DeAugustine had one goal and two assists to lead Bismarck. DeAugustine scored 19:17 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Bismarck. Jeremy OKeefe provided the assist.

Aberdeen's power play was ineffective against the Bobcats' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Bismarck forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Bobcats surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Bismarck forced the Wings goalie Marcus Zelzer to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Bismarck additionally got points from Adam Knochenmus, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Anderson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Castan Sommer also scored for Bismarck.

Aberdeen stifled the Bobcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 42 shots on target during the contest, the Wings exceeded the 24.9 shots they average per game this year.

Aberdeen was helped by Trevor Husch, who grabbed one goal. Husch scored on the power play 8:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aberdeen. The Wings had gotten the advantage when Bismarck's Patrick Moore was sent off for slashing. Cullen Hurley assisted on the tally. Aberdeen also got points from Mike Parnell, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Aberdeen also got a goal from Cory Ward as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aberdeen were Caleb OBrien, Mack Ohnsted, and Paul Prescott, who contributed one a piece.

The Bobcats' Aaron Nelson stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Bismarck registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Marcus Zelzer made 29 saves for Aberdeen on 33 shots. The Wings ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
