Kalamazoo erases deficit to stun Springfield, 3-2Blue Rink Sat, Mar 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Springfield Jr. Blues could not hold down the Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings, and Jr. K Wings erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win. Kalamazoo never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Jr. K Wings fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Springfield's Josef Pontasch at 4:58 in the second period. Kalamazoo knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Andrew Graves at 14:45 in the third period. The Jr. K Wings netted the game winner at 19:17 in the third period on a goal by Graves. Kalamazoo was led by Kyle Gattelaro, who finished with one goal. The Jr. K Wings managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Kalamazoo finished below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jr. K Wings kept the Jr. Blues' goalie busy throughout the game, and Gabe Antoni made 31 saves on 34 shots. Trevor Boyd also scored for Kalamazoo. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Chris Leone, Daniel Cesarz, Danny Hamburg, Brandon Flood, and Taylor Burden, who each chipped in one. With 33 shots on target during the contest, Springfield exceeded the 27.1 shots it averages per game this year.
