Bismarck falls to Aberdeen in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Cory Ward gave the Aberdeen Wings a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Bismarck Bobcats when he scored 4:11 into the extra period.

Ward had two goals and one assist to lead Aberdeen. Ward scored the first of his two goals at 18:18 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Aberdeen. CJ Reuschlein provided the assist. Ward's next tally made the score 5-4 Aberdeen with 15:49 left in overtime. Trevor Husch assisted on the tally.

The Wings relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Ward, Reuschlein and Husch took 20 of the team's 35 shots.

Aberdeen also got a goal from Paul Prescott as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aberdeen were Justin Parizek, who had two and Tyler Dunagan, Kevin Becker, Joe Mottiqua, Mike Parnell, and Ryan Wagner, who each chipped in one.

Bismarck's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Aberdeen power plays. The Bobcats' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Bismarck is averaging 2.5 goals against for the season.

The Bobcats were helped by Tyler Richter, who racked up one goal. Richter scored 10:13 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Bismarck. Grant Mindt provided the assist. Bismarck additionally got points from Donald Olivieri, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mike Dockry also scored for Bismarck. In addition, Bismarck received assists from John Furgele, who had two and Filip Starzynski, Daniel Zawacki, and Bryce Anderson, who contributed one a piece.

Aberdeen's Marcus Zelzer stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Wings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tommy Burke recorded 30 saves for Bismarck. The Bobcats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
