Twin City downs Minnesota, 7-4TCO Training Haus Sun, Mar 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Marvin Powell racked up two points to lead the Twin City Steel to a 7-4 victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces. Twin City was paced by Powell, who tallied one goal and one assist. Powell scored 7:22 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Twin City. Shane Fabian assisted on the tally. The Steel's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Minnesota power plays. Twin City kept Minnesota's goalie busy throughout the game, and Allen Patten made 31 saves on 38 shots. The Steel found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Twin City averages 3.6 goals per game. Twin City additionally got points from Luke Vogelgesang, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brandon Busse, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Tony Folk, who also had one goal and one assist. Twin City also got a goal from Tyler Montgomery as well. In addition, Twin City received assists from Tanner Fricke, Adam Slagle, Karson Kuntz, and Nicholas Coltrain, who contributed one a piece and Kyle Kuntz and Sam Basich, who each chipped in two. The Flying Aces struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 32 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. Minnesota was helped by Kyle Bonstrom, who tallied two goals. Bonstrom scored the first of his two goals at 10:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnesota. Liam Johnston picked up the assist. Bonstrom's next tally made the score 4-3 Twin City with 17:42 left in the third period. Johnston assisted on the tally. Cote Dickerson also scored for Minnesota. More assists for Minnesota came via Steve Wrzala, Paul Sorenson, Dylan Nelson, and Tyler Pionk, who contributed one a piece. Jared Schletty made 17 saves for the Steel on 21 shots. Twin City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
