Flint rolls over Pittsburgh, 6-2Alpha Ice Complex Sun, Mar 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Flint Jr. Generals had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins. Flint forced Pittsburgh's netminders to work all game long, launching 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Reid Daniels made seven stops and Brennan Allen made 19. The Jr. Generals were helped by Jacob Bearss, who finished with one goal. Bearss scored 16:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Flint. Derek Compeau provided the assist. Flint additionally got points from Edward Osowski, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Cody Damon, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Flint also had goals scored by Nicholas Goettel, who had one and Joshua Kestner, who had two. More assists for Flint came via Richard Jansson and Andrew Lay, who each chipped in one and Kenneth Miloser, Timothy Conser, and Warren Carter, who contributed two a piece. The Jr. Penguins did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 10 saves. Pittsburgh was led by David Mnatsyan, who tallied one goal. Mnatsyan scored on the power play 12:30 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Flint. The Jr. Penguins had gained a power play chance when Brent Formosa was whistled for high sticking. Reed Gregory assisted on the tally. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Alex Berardinelli as well. Dominic Orlando made 10 saves for Flint on 12 shots. The Jr. Generals totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Pittsburgh incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
