Pittsburgh blows out Flint, 7-2

The Flint Jr. Generals had trouble finding ways to stop the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins, which beat Jr. Generals, 7-2.

Alexander Lysyuk was all over the ice for Pittsburgh, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Lysyuk scored 11:56 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pittsburgh. Michael Straub assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Penguins bested their season scoring average. Pittsburgh averages 3.9 goals per game.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Bryan Hovanec, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Ryan McAloon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Thomas Leistner, who had one and Nicholas Randazzo and Nico Vecchio, who each chipped in two.

Flint's offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Generals put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Flint struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

The Jr. Generals were led by Andrew Lay, who registered one goal and one assist. Lay scored 45 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Goettel picked up the assist. Derek Compeau also scored for Flint. In addition, Flint received assists from Richard Jansson and Cody Damon, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Penguins took out Sean Keating after he had made 13 saves and installed Tyler Stepke in goal, where he finished with 13 saves and the win. Pittsburgh incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Flint's starting goalie, Benjamin Myers, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Dominic Orlando, who stopped five shots. The Jr. Generals registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
