Ryan Quigley scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Toledo Cherokee picked up the extra point in a 5-4 (2-1 SO) win over the Michigan Mountain Cats. The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. Michigan got a shootout goal from Zach Bourcier. Toledo also got a shootout goal from Andrew Benyo.The Cherokee came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Toledo trailed 4-2 after a power play goal by the Mountain Cats' John Arms at 27 seconds in the third period. The Cherokee knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Gary Neill at 19:31 in the third period. Neill had two goals to lead Toledo to victory. The Cherokee forced Michigan goalie Schuyler Ferguson to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Toledo's penalty kill unit could not stop the Mountain Cats' power play, which converted on four of six opportunities. The Cherokee were often in penalty trouble, as it ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Toledo also got points from Benyo, who also racked up one goal and one assist.
