Toledo wins tough contest against Flint, 4-2Iceland Arena Sun, Mar 04, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Toledo Cherokee and the Flint Jr. Generals was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Toledo emerged with a 4-2 win. The Cherokee gained the winning advantage on a goal by Donnie Nagle 17:31 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Mike Baker was all over the ice for Toledo, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Baker scored 19:41 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Toledo. Patrick Smiatacz picked up the assist. The Cherokee racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 15 minors and one major for 65 minutes in penalty time. Toledo had been averaging 32.0 minutes in penalties per game. Austin Fletcher also scored for Toledo. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Trevor Ruiz, who had one. Flint forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 16 minors and two majors for 82 minutes in penalty time. In addition, Flint received assists from Richard Jansson, Edward Osowski, and Timothy Conser, who each chipped in one. Austyn Roudebush made 32 saves for Toledo on 34 shots. The Cherokee registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For Toledo, Ruiz was ejected from the game. Dominic Orlando rejected 17 shots on goal for the Jr. Generals. Flint registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Team's Luke Dmytro and Colten Thiel were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
