A stellar performance between the pipes by Tyler Stepke helped the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins defeat the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, 6-1.

Pittsburgh was led by Stephen Budkey, who racked up one goal. Budkey scored 18:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Nico Vecchio assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Penguins bested their season scoring average. Pittsburgh averages 3.9 goals per game.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Ryan McAloon, who also registered one goal and one assist and Nicholas Randazzo, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Alex Berardinelli as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were David Mnatsyan, who had one and Stephen Shirk, who had three.

Cleveland's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pittsburgh power plays. The Jr. Lumberjacks' offense operated below they season average. Cleveland averages 4.9 goals per game.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by Cameron Dimmitt, who scored the team's only goal. Dimmitt scored on the power play 11:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1. An elbowing penalty on Thomas Leistner had put Cleveland on the power play. Jon Bayer provided the assist.

Stepke rejected 28 shots on goal for the Jr. Penguins. Pittsburgh incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jr. Lumberjacks' starting goalie, Lawrence Dvorak Jr, made 21 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of David Jech, who stopped two shots.
